Destiny 2’s community flexed their tenacity, solved a puzzle for Corridors of Time with close to zero clues and discovered the Exotic weapon Bastion. Here’s how it went down.
When the mission first dropped to explore the Corridors of Time, I was screaming with excitement. So far, I’ve loved the missions we have received from Osiris this season, so clearly this one would be interesting as heck, right? Somewhat. On a scale of enticement, it’s on the lower end than the previous two missions where we can help and save Saint-14, but at the same time, I was interested in the puzzle aspect. Unfortunately, I don’t have the free time or tenacity to work out this type of puzzle, but Raid Secrets along with other Destiny community members did.
It was exciting to hear about all the people working together to solve the puzzle, and being able to access their solutions as they completed them. I enjoyed hearing and seeing how the community buzzed around trying to work out what the quest reward would be. My favourite part of this quest was picking up the Lorebook, “The Phoenix and the Pigeon”. I ran through all the available corridor codes before it was completed, knowing I was earning a lore book and an emblem, but I thought I would also complete the quest itself and be lead elsewhere. This didn’t happen though, as I picked up the emblem and heard… no completed quest noise to mark it as complete.
Huh, guess I’ll read the lore book. “The Phoenix and the Pigeon” is wonderful. It’s one of those lore books that doesn’t drop game breaking lore, but it gives us character interactions, and some empathy towards the people we interact with. It humanised Ghosts for me and gave me some details on Saint and Osiris’s relationship which scratched the just the right itch for me to realise why Osiris would break time to get his friend back.
But I still had the quest in my inventory…then lo and behold! The main puzzle has been solved, and a solution is now out there for an exotic quest! The exotic quest isn’t a grind, nor particularly long or difficult like some other quests have been (I’m looking at you Ace of Spades). The steps however can be tedious if you’re not well acquainted with the areas of Destiny 2, nor what counts as a bounty or quest.
First things first, you’ll need to complete the mission “Exploring the Corridors of Time” from Osiris. I have all the steps for completion listed below.
* Starting on reset for Jan. 21st this will be how to start the quest line that rewards you Bastion. I’ve also checked to see if you maintain access to the Corridors of Time after completing this quest, so you can grab the Lorebook and the Emblem afterwards if you prefer. Bungie is allowing players one week to access the Corridors of Time to complete them.
Starting the quest
You’ll be prompted to visit Saint-14 in the Tower who is located in the Hangar. Saint-14 will provide you with a Chronometric Weapon Core, however I didn’t see it in my inventory or my quest log so I assume it ‘gave’ it to me like an invisible item. After speaking to Saint-14, you can pick up a new quest from him called “Memento”. This initial quest-step instructs us to speak to him and you do that automatically.
Visit the Tangled Shore to kill 5 Fallen Captains and Servitors
The next part, “Spoken Word”, tells you to visit the Spider in the Tangled Shore to kill 5 Fallen captains or 5 Servitors. This one is a bit irritating, well it was for me at least because while I was running around completing it so was everyone else. The easiest way to deal with that is to run into the lost sector called the Empty Tank, a Fallen club next to the Spider’s hideout in Thieves Landing. Inside is a Servitor you can see from the first door you enter through. Killing that Servitor will grant you progression in the quest and you don’t have to complete the lost sector for this step. Outside of the lost sector a Fallen captain should appear across from where you spawn into the Tangled Shore. I ran in and out of the lost sector five times to quickly complete this step.
Kill Aksiniks in the lost sector The Empty Tank
The next stage, “Lost Connection” is easy because it requires you to talk with Spider about a bounty to kill Aksiniks, Bound By Honor. Now you can complete what you just farmed! Make your way through the lost sector until you reach the end encounter. There you’ll find Aksiniks spawning in above the doorway you enter through. You can deal with the boss as well and grab the chest on the way out to see Spider upon completion.
Kill 30 challenging enemies, complete 10 spider bounties, and 8 public events
“A Strong Arm” is the next step to complete. You need to complete 10 spider bounties, 8 standard public events (or 4 heroic public events) and kill 30 challenging enemies. The challenging enemies part is easily done while you’re completing the public events, or wandering around the Tangled shore. The 10 spider bounties can be a bit of an irking situation, as… He only holds four? Well…as it turns out the wanted bounties count… I don’t know why I didn’t think about that but hey, it is what it is. Nice to have it cleared up at least. The spider bounties don’t have to be completed on the Tangled Shore to count either, in case you thought you had to do the entire quest in the Tangled Shore.
Visit Trapper’s Cave in Four-Horn Gulch
The next stage, “Rude Awakening”, tells you to run into the lost sector Trapper’s Cave in Four-horn Gulch to find a grave within. I recommend clearing out the entire lost sector before searching for the grave, as enemies won’t bother you while you search. The grave is hidden about midway through the lost sector, by a large waterfall. You’ll hop down and to your left (facing the rest of the lost sector) you’ll find the grave. Scan it, and you’ll complete this quest-step.
Complete a modified Hollowed Lair strike to kill Reysk
“Altered Chief” is the final step for this mission, which tells you to defeat the guy who’s grave you just scanned. He’s called Reysk, and he is a Scorn captain. You will have to complete a strike variant of the Hollowed Lair available on the Tangled Shore map. You will go through the entire strike before you get to Reysk, who turns up after you trigger the boss and have delt some damage. He’ll be among the enemies that spawn on the right-hand side (He was for me, I don’t think he turns up elsewhere in the room). He’s a yellow bar enemy, so just popping a bullet in him and letting someone else kill him will make him count for you. And that is it! You now must go talk to Saint-14 again and get your reward for this exotic mission.

It’s tricky to keep up with which ones you’ve done and which ones you haven’t. A user on r/raidsecrets made a handy app called OSIRIS for Destiny 2 – Corridors of Time quest, and an interactive website you can use to keep track of everything. You can find his reddit post here.
