A new leak suggests that Rockstar’s next release might be a medieval game. The game is allegedly an entirely new IP with a European medieval setting. The rumors also indicate that this game will release with the next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
Details about the Rockstar medieval game
Someone took to Reddit a LinkedIn post by Pawas Saxena, a character artist at Rockstar. In this post Saxena stated that he is working on Project Medieval, a project that was rumored to be put in the dumpster a few years ago. If the post was to be believed, that project is now back in development. Saxena’s LinkedIn profile also stated that he is “creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architectural style.”
Saxena’s post along with his entire LinkedIn profile have been removed since that Reddit post was published.
However, another post on Reddit seems to confirm the rumor, adding that this medieval game will feature a heavy focus on sword fighting and one-to-one duels, which would be a far cry from Rockstar’s usual gun play focused games.
What about Bully 2 and GTA 6, though?
One could argue that these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it appears that Rockstar have abandoned the rumored Bully 2 game. Also, GTA 6 seems to be in its final stages of development. As GTA V’s Trevor himself (Steven Ogg) just recently teased:
With Bully 2 out of the way and GTA 6 nearing completion, Rockstar could already be working on their next title.
Rockstar is hiring for a next gen open world game
Furthermore, Rockstar are currently hiring new talent for an “Open World Character-Based Game”for next generation consoles, as PlayStation Universe reported recently.
We are looking for an experienced, talented engineer to help us in developing advanced animation systems for large open world character-based games. We are a global team of programmers and researchers who collaborate on pushing the boundaries of character animation on next generation hardware.Source: Rockstar (the job listing is no longer available)
